When Their Profile Says 5’7 But They Look 5’5
So I had my first #QuarantineDate with Menz 1 from the dating app. We met up at a local park to go for a run together. When I pulled into the parking lot I saw him walking to the park entrance so I beeped my horn so he would know it was me. I was wearing a mask and he had on a bandana covering his face with a hat on facing to the back. His profile pics showed he had a nice beard (I’m a sucker for a full beard) and nice teeth both of which are now covered cause #DaRona.
I got out of the car and my instinct was to give a hello hug as he approached me but then I caught myself and just froze awkwardly and said “Hi”. Cause again #DaRona. I was also thrown off because he seemed much shorter than I anticipated. I am 5’8 and his profile said 5’7 so I thought what’s an inch? Well an inch is everything! Call me vain, I don’t care, I don’t care.
All I could think about was what if this was a ‘regular’ date and I was wearing heels. I would be looking down at the crown of his head every time he speaks. #FixItJesus! Now I typically date men that are 6’0 at least so I call myself stepping outside of my comfort zone and looking past my standard height requirement. However, it was a serious struggle!
Our conversation in-person was effortless and we had spoken on the phone twice before meeting up so there was a certain level of comfort there. We hung out for about 3 hours which was longer than I expected as he was a really cool guy but height wise it was a no for me dawg.
I even tried to give it another go and we met up again a few days later for some takeout and an episode of Insecure and I still couldn’t unsee it. This time felt like he was even shorter, Lordt! As an added bonus we got to hang out this time without face masks so I could really see what he would look like under normal circumstances and the beard and teeth were intact. However, he didn’t wear a hat on the second meet up and all I will say is I see why he had on a hat in all his pics. The deceit!
